POTS Lines
POTS line installation and management for fire panels, elevators, alarms, and fax — provisioned, terminated, tested for dial tone, and documented across your sites.
We install and manage POTS (plain old telephone service) lines for the critical endpoints that still require an analog circuit: fire alarm communicators, elevator emergency phones, gate and entry phones, alarm panels, fax, and modems. We terminate copper or analog-equivalent service at the demarc, run and label low-voltage cabling to each device, and verify dial tone, loop current, and supervised connectivity end to end. With carriers retiring legacy copper, we also design and install POTS-replacement (analog terminal adapters over IP/cellular) that preserves the line behavior fire and elevator equipment expects while meeting NFPA 72 supervision requirements for communicators. Each line is labeled, tested, and handed over with a circuit-to-device map.
What's included
- Demarc termination and line extension to each analog device
- Cabling and labeling to fire, elevator, gate, alarm, and fax endpoints
- POTS-replacement (analog terminal adapter over IP/cellular) where copper is retired
- Dial-tone, loop-current, and supervision verification per line
- Fire/elevator communicator connectivity per NFPA 72 supervision
- Multi-site line inventory and circuit documentation
Deliverables
- Circuit-to-device map and line inventory per site
- Per-line dial-tone and supervision test results
- Demarc/labeling schedule and handover documentation
Frequently asked
Our carrier is discontinuing copper POTS — what are our options?
We install POTS-replacement devices (analog terminal adapters delivering line emulation over IP or cellular) that present the same dial tone and supervision your fire panel, elevator phone, or alarm expects. We verify each replaced line meets the device's connectivity and supervision requirements before sign-off. [CONFIRM replacement platform]
Can you handle the fire and elevator lines specifically?
Yes. Fire alarm communicators and elevator emergency phones are common POTS endpoints with strict supervision and connectivity needs under NFPA 72 and elevator code. We coordinate with your fire-alarm and elevator vendors so the line behavior they require is preserved and documented, whether on copper or a POTS-replacement path.
Do you manage the carrier service or just the wiring?
We self-perform the inside wiring, termination, and testing, and we can coordinate ordering and activation with your carrier or replacement provider. You typically hold the service account; we document each circuit and its endpoint so billing and changes stay clear across sites.
